Tuesday, October 24th

Phonics
Today we reviewed the letter M. Students played a word game and read the words of the week and wrote the words on the board

After, students worked on a letter M worksheet


Journal
After our word game, students worked in their journal and wrote about what they did on the weekend.


Math
Today, students learned about an ABCD pattern. Students know that an ABCD pattern has 4 different objects/shapes/colors in it.

After, students created their own ABCD pattern in their workbook. 




Unit of Inquiry:

We reviewed what we discovered during our Pumpkin Investigation yesterday. 
Students talked about how the pumpkin felt, the way it looks and how many seeds we counted. 
After, we decorated the pumpkin!

Phonics
Today we learned the sound, action and words for the letter M. We watched bounce patrol and Jackhartmann and discovered new words that begin with the letter M.

After, we students created the letter M using playdough.






Math
Patterning
Today we continued learning about patterns. We reviewed what an AB pattern is. After, I created a pattern using 3 objects, students were asked to guess my pattern and tell me if it was an AB pattern.

 


Students know that my pattern was not an AB pattern because it had 3 objects in it. Students learned about ABC patterns. 



Mila and Kai made an ABC pattern using blocks.

Unit of Inquiry
Pumpkin Investigation

Today, students did a pumpkin investigation where they looked, touched and described the pumpkin.


Students used their senses to touch the pumpkin and describe what it felt like. 
Students described what the pumpkin felt like on the inside. After gathering all of the pumpkin seeds, we counted how many were inside. There were 412 seeds inside the pumpkin!


Students really enjoyed the pumpkin investigation activity!
