Pancake Breakfast!!!

Students ate pancakes in the cafeteria this morning.

Math: Measurement

Students continued to explore measurement. Students worked in pairs and measured their height. First, students estimated how tall their friend is. After, they used objects from the classroom to measure their height.

Fundraiser Assembly

SJA students gathered in the auditorium for a very special assembly. 

A student in gr. 1 used a Nurf gun on Mr. Foster!

A student in gr. 2 put make up on Mr. Rosario!

Tuesday, April 17

Phonics

Today, we explored the "qu" sound. Students know that the letter q and u are always beside each other!

We watched a few phonics videos and brainstormed words together.

Journal

Students wrote 3 sentences about what they did on the weekend.

Math: Measurement

We are starting a brand new unit on measurement. 

Students completed a pre-assessment on measurement.

After, we discussed what "length" means. Together as a class we estimated how many markers we would need to measure Victoria.

After, we measured Victoria's height. We used 9 markers to measure!

As a class, we worked in our workbooks to determine which objects are longer or shorter.

After, students worked with a partner and measured items around the room using markers and pipe cleaners. Students first estimated and then measured.

Unit of Inquiry: Spring

Students are continuing to explore the spring season. We talked about all of the different things we see in spring and all the types of flowers/vegetables/fruit we can grow in a garden.

After, students worked on a cut & paste activity.

Syra brought in her sheep and fluttershy hatchimal toys for the "sh" sound

Tarun drew pictures of things that have the "sh" sound. 

Math test:

Students completed the money math test. The students have been working so hard and did so well on their tests. Great job, SK!

We had gym in the classroom today

After gym, we started to practice our song & dance for Arts night

Unit of Inquiry: Spring

We continued learning about butterflies, we watched another video of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. After, students finished their butterfly craft!
