Journal: After our morning routine, students worked in their journals and wrote about what they did on the weekend. Students copied the prompt on the board "On the weekend I..." and wrote about what they did on the weekend by sounding out letters and writing what they did on their own.
Math: Today we continued counting by 5's. Students really enjoy the count by 5's song by Jack Hartmann on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amxVL9KUmq8
After listening to the song, we counted by 5's using our hand and counted all the way up to 100!
After our large group activity, students worked individually and completed a count by 5's worksheet.

Unit of Inquiry: Today, students were introduced to their final projects. We reviewed all the different parts of a plant and how food items can come from the root/seed/stem/leaves/fruit part of a plant.
We wrote down all the different types of fruits/vegetable items that grow on plants: strawberry, potato, broccoli, cabbage, celery, carrot, asparagus, corn, and apples.
Students picked a food item from a basket and they were assigned their food item for their project.
After students were assigned their food item, we discussed what they will be doing for their final project.
Tomorrow, students will be writing about the food item they picked. Final project will be due next week. (a letter regarding the final task was sent home)
