Math: Place value

Students added numbers to and from 20 in different ways and identified the 10's and the 1's.
Students can identify 10's and 1's in double digit numbers. (example, "25" there are 2 10's and 5 1's).

Today we learned about the planet Mars!

We watched a video and read a book about mars.

Thursday, March 1st

Morning Routine

Hello, March! Students were excited to change the calendar this morning.


Phonics
Students worked with a partner to come up with a sentence using the words of the week and presented their sentence to the class.






Devan, Surina and Syra's sentences:
 I drive my van.
I look at my teacher.



Mila & Tarun: I visit my friends.

Gavin & Victoria: My tooth fell out and it hurt me.


Kaysha & Farah: I use a cook book to help me cook.

Kai & Aarna: I see a full moon.


After, students worked on a worksheet and practiced writing words that contain "oo"

Students continued counting by 10's and 1's.

Unit of Inquiry: Space

Today we explored our planet, Earth. Students know that Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun!

Students enjoyed watching and listening to this planet song!

Wednesday February 28th

Phonics & Journal: "oo" sound

Today we explored the "oo" sound. We watched a Turtle Diary video and discovered words that have the "oo" sound.
After, students wrote a list of words that contain "oo"



Math: Place Value

Students are exploring counting by 10's and 1's. We used snap cubes to make groups of 10 and counted by 1's for the left overs.

Unit of Inquiry: Space

Students learned about the planets Mercury and Venus. We watched a video and read book about the two planet. Students discovered that Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Venus is the 2nd planet closest to the sun and is the closest planet to earth!
After, students created the planets out of crafts.

After French, students completed the spelling test.
