Math

We reviewed all the different types of patterns we learned so far. Today, students discovered a new type of pattern, ABB

Students used blocks to create an ABB pattern, and then they created their own ABB pattern by coloring in Halloween pumpkins!

Spelling Pre-test

Students worked independently on their spelling pre-test. 

After students completed the test, we took up the answers together.  

Unit of Inquiry: Sensational Senses

Students reviewed the 5 senses they learned yesterday.

Students brainstormed ways how their bodies can help them touch.

Students listened to a story about Touch

After, we talked about the different textures that people can feel, such as bumpy, soft, smooth, rough etc.

Students worked on a hand print activity. Students were given 5 different textures and were asked to describe how they felt. The items included, cotton, sand paper, pipe cleaner, tissue paper, and tape

As a class, we discussed what these textures felt like. After, students put together the items on a hand print.

Today we reviewed the letter Dd, students named words that start with the letter Dd.

Students worked on a letter Dd worksheet

Math

Today students learned about AAB patterns.

I created an AAB pattern using blogs and had students guess my pattern.

Students know that in an AAB pattern, the first two objects/color is the same since they are both A A

After, some students created their own AAB pattern and shared with the class

                                 Tarun's AAB pattern: Blue blue green

Farah's pattern: purple purple blue

After, students worked on a pattern worksheet and some created AAB patterns with the blogs and then we switched.

After, students worked in pairs and created an AAB pattern using the objects in the classroom.

Picture Day: Students took their photo in the auditorium 

Unit of Inquiry: 5 senses

Today we started a new unit, Sensational Senses.

In this unit we will be discussing all of the different senses 

(Our season unit will be on going through out the year as the seasons change)

We created a KWL chart and students talked about what they already know about our 5 senses 

After, students worked in pairs and talked about 1 of the 5 senses and what they help us do.

Mila and Syra are pretending to eat an ice cream, they are using their tongue and mouth to taste

Farah and Kaysha are reading a book and using their eyes to look.

Kai and victoria are using their hands to touch the board 

Devan and Tarun are using their ears to listen
