Wednesday October 25th

Phonics

Today, students learned the sound, action and song for the letter Dd. Students watched Bounce Patrol and Jack Hartman and discovered lots of words that begin with the letter Dd

After, students created the letter Dd using playdough and practiced writing the letter Dd using our new mini white boards!

Math:

We reviewed all the different types of patterns we learned so far. 

Students learned about AABB patterns. Students know that the core is the pattern. And a pattern/core always repeats!

As a class we reviewed the different types of AB patterns. 

We circled the core in each pattern.

After, students created their own AABB pattern and labeled and circled the core. After, students used building blocks to make AABB patterns.

Unit of Inquiry/Art

We reviewed all the different colors fall has. We talked about what a tree in fall looks like.

After, students colored in a tree and cut out different color paper to make fall leaves.

Phonics

Today we reviewed the letter M. Students played a word game and read the words of the week and wrote the words on the board

After, students worked on a letter M worksheet

Journal

After our word game, students worked in their journal and wrote about what they did on the weekend.

Math

Today, students learned about an ABCD pattern. Students know that an ABCD pattern has 4 different objects/shapes/colors in it.

After, students created their own ABCD pattern in their workbook. 

Unit of Inquiry:

We reviewed what we discovered during our Pumpkin Investigation yesterday. 

Students talked about how the pumpkin felt, the way it looks and how many seeds we counted. 

After, we decorated the pumpkin!
