Morning: Some of our friends participated in singing Oh Canada in French this morning with Mlle. Jessica
                                         


Music: Visit Ms. Hayward's blog


Phonics: We continued with the letter, sound and words with the letter N
As a class we came up with sentences using N words, not, nest, nut, nice and nap.
Then students worked on a letter N worksheet



Math: Today we learned about groups of 10 and how to count by 10's. First we learned about grouping and how to put objects into groups. I asked students to group themselves in groups of 5.
students used their problem solving skills to place themselves into 2 groups of 5.
After, we grouped objects into groups of 10. Students understand that there were 2 groups of 10, then they counted the remaining objects, and counted the total amount.

Gym: Visit Mrs. Jans' blog

Unit of Inquiry: We continued talking about plants and learned about types of plants we can eat. Students mentioned that they can eat apples, carrots, cherries, corn, and pears, which all come from plants.
We worked on a plant booklet where students different types of edible plants into categories.

Wednesday September 27



Weather Report: Our weather report is being led by Deven this week.

Phonics: Students learned the sound, action, and song for the letter N on bounce patrol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE5HEeoVGb0
We brainstormed words that begin with the letter N & then created the letter using playdough.




Journal: Today we wrote three words that begin with the letter P in our journal.
Students wrote the prompt on the board, "three words that start with p" and then sounded out the words that start with P on their own.





Math: We continued with estimations. Students were given a math problem to solve, "Ms. Ayoub went shopping for the class and bought 9 items for the class. Some were glue sticks, some were books. How many were there of each?" 
Students shared different estimations, and then we counted.


Then students worked on another math problem in their math workbook.



Gym: Visit Mrs. Jans' blog 

Unit of Inquiry: We continued discussing the parts of a plant and the things a plant needs to survive. Students understand that a plant needs water, sunlight, air in order to stay alive. And then we worked on a parts of the plant worksheet.



Later on, we practiced for tomorrow's spelling test.
Students practiced how to write a test by following the numbers on the page. We sounded out the letters together.

Tuesday, September 26th


Calendar: This week our calendar routine is being led by Mila 



Phonics: Today, students reviewed the letter Pp, sound, action and song on Bounce Patrol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v1fg2Hp63s
Students then practiced writing the letter P on a worksheet by tracing, writing, and finding words that begin with the letter P. We brainstormed on the board all the different words that begin with the letter P.


Math: Today we continued estimation by exploring different objects around  the classroom and estimating how many objects there are, then we counted. Students solved the problem, "there are 8 apples in a bag, some are red and some are yellow. How many did you have of each?"

Unit of Inquiry: Today, students shared what they knew about plants, what they wonder, and what they have learned (KWL Chart)
Students discovered that plants have a stem, roots, seeds, leaves and sometimes flowers. We also learned how a plant breathes in carbon dioxide. After, students worked on a plant worksheet where they labelled the different parts of a plant.
