Morning Routine

Victoria is our calendar helper this week!

Phonics: "ee" sound

Students brainstormed words that have the "ee" sound

After, students were introduced to the February spelling test words!

After Music, students presented their poems in front of the class and Ms. Bancud

Math: Time

Students were introduced to time and the hour. Students brainstormed a list of places where they might see the time. After, we went on a scavenger hunt around the school to look for different types of clocks. Students found lots of analog clocks around the school and digital clocks on the microwaves in the cafeteria and on the thermostat. 

Students are asked to look around their homes to find different types of clocks and count how many analog/digital clocks they see!

After, students matched digital time to an analog clock.

Students completed an addition/subtraction test

Morning Routine

The students were so excited to see the calendar change from January to February!

Spelling Test

Phonics: ie vowel blend

Students worked with a partner and wrote a sentence with a "ie" word and presented it to the class.

Kaysha & Arna's word: Spies

Sentence: My sister spies on me

Syra & Farah's word: Cried

Sentence: I cried when I was hurt

Gavin & Devan's word: Tie

Sentence: I tie my shoe laces

Mila & Kai's word: Pies

Sentence: I make pies at home

Surina & Victoria's word: Fries

Sentence: Fries are made from potato

Math: Addition/Subtraction Review

Students worked in pairs and asked each other to solve subtraction questions.

After, students worked on a subtraction worksheet

Unit of Inquiry: Community Helpers

Students worked on their summative project. 

Students wrote about what community helper they want to be, why they want to be that community helper, why this community helper is important for the community and 3 things this community helper needs to do their job.

March Break Camp

March Break Camp registration forms were sent home back in October. We have had many students sign up since then and especially over the last few days.

If you are interested in registering your child for our March Break camp, please send in the completed registration form, along with the $20 one-time non-refundable deposit in order to secure your child's spot (this could be paid in cash or through fresh books). 

There are two options to choose from:

Option 1: lunch and two snacks provided during camp

Option 2: send your own packed lunch and a discounted camp rate! 

We also have daily rates available.

Today we reviewed words that have "ie". After, students worked on a worked and practiced writing the letters "ie" and wrote words to match pictures
