Friday, Oct. 20th


Day 1

Reading Buddies with Ms. Hung's grade 4 class.

After music, we did show & share


Syra brought in a rake for the letter r




Kai showed us his toy helicopter for the letter h



Victoria brought in her toy rabbit for the letter r




Math: We continued learning about AB patterns. Students know that an AB pattern is a pattern of 2 different things. 


Students labeled my pattern. Students identified the A and B in the pattern. 

After, students created their own AB pattern!

Unit of Inquiry: Today we continued learning about primary and secondary colors. We did an art activity where students blended primary colors to make secondary colors. 
Students chose a fall leaf to paint.
Students were really excited to mix the paint colors together and watching the color change.

We poured paint into a zip-lock bag to mix and created a new color!

Students picked 2 primary colors to create a secondary color. 


This hands on activity allowed students to touch, feel and see the colors change!

Thursday, October 19th


HAPPY DIWALI!!!!

Kaysha was so excited to talk about Diwali. She told us all about the traditions her and her family do on this special day! She showed students her henna.

We talked about Diwali and colored in mandalas using different patterns!

Journal: Today students wrote words that start with the letters r and h.
Students copied prompt on the board, "words that start with r and h are..." & wrote words that start with each letter






Math: Patterning

We continued with patterning today. Students observed a photo and had to find all of the different patterns


Students found lots of different patterns!


After, we looked at this necklace, students had to figure out the pattern in order to find the missing beads.


After, students worked in their math workbook and created their own patterns!






Unit of Inquiry: Outside our Window

Today we continued to talk about fall leaves and colors. We reviewed primary colors. Students know that the primary colors are blue, yellow and red. Students were introduced to secondary colors. Students know that secondary colors are: green, orange and purple. 



We went on another nature walk to gather more colorful leaves


After gathering our leaves, we went inside and looked at paint chips!

Students worked with a partner and sorted out their leaves by placing them on the paint chips that matched their leaves.
